Dr. Ximena Aguilera, director of the Health Observatory at Diego Portales University and former Minister of Health, participated in the National Meeting “Dialogues 2026: Leadership, Women, and Cancer,” held in May and organized by the Cancer Observatory.
The event brought together more than 100 leading women from various sectors across the country, including the public, private, academic, scientific, and civil society sectors, with the aim of fostering collective reflection on the impact of cancer on women’s lives and the challenges this disease poses for the country’s development.
The meeting established itself as a space for dialogue and the exchange of experiences, where evidence, specialized knowledge, and leadership converged, allowing for a comprehensive approach to cancer that considers its health, social, cultural, economic, and political dimensions.
Dr. Aguilera’s participation enriched the discussion on the need to strengthen strategies for prevention, early detection, treatment, and support for people affected by this disease, as well as to promote public policies that reduce access gaps and improve health outcomes.
The event also highlighted the importance of female leadership in developing solutions to address one of today’s major health challenges, promoting collaboration among stakeholders from different sectors to move toward more effective and equitable responses to cancer.
